The Powerstroke engine is a commercial engine manufactured by Ford Motor Company that was first introduced in 1994. The engine uses the common rail fuel injection system and has six cylinders. It is based on the International T444E, but has been updated with features such as DOHC, sequential turbocharging and variable geometry turbochargers (VGT) to increase power and fuel efficiency.

1) Start by checking oil level and condition.
2) Check air filter for clogging or damage.

4) Adjust timing belt tensioner if needed or replace based on age of engine.
5) Clean cylinder head valve stem seals then replace them if necessary.
6) Clean injector tips with compressed air or replace injectors if needed based on age of engine.
